CU vs. CSU
September 3rd, 2005
Folsom Field - Boulder, CO

Sheila, myself and some neighbors attended the Colorado Buffalo's opening game this year against their in-state rivals the Colorado State Rams in what is known as the "Rocky Mountain Showdown". In the words of the TBS announcer (I Tivo'd the game), it was a spectacular day in Boulder, Colorado.

The game was well worth attending, producing quite a bit of drama as it went down to the wire. Briefly -- CSU led 21-10 going into the 4th quarter before CU was able to tie the game at 21 following a touchdown with 2 point conversion and a clutch 48 yard field goal with 2:32 left to go in the game. Then on the next possession, CSU turned it over and CU scored on the next play to take a 28-21 lead with only 1:30 left in the game. Over, right? Not exactly. CSU drove down the field and scored to tie it up 28-28 (I captured both ends of the tying pass play - see below). Then with only 36 seconds left, CU benefiting from a good return, drove into field goal position and won it 31-28 with yet another clutch 47 yard FG.

Anyway, here are some images from the game (all wide angle shots w/ 18-55mm EF-S and all tight shots with 100mm f2.8 macro):
