Lake area of Mount Evans...
In August we spent a three day weekend in the spectacular
Vail area. Vail in the Summer is paradise on Earth, a highly
reccomended get away filled with awesome scenery, hiking, biking,
shopping and dining. Aside from Vail itself, we also visited
Beaver Creek, Piney Lake and a brief stop at Copper Mountain.

Mount Evans is a 14,264 foot peak near Idaho Springs not too
far from I-70. It is one of the prominent peaks visible from
the Denver metro. The Mount Evans scenic byway reaches the summit
gaining 7000 feet of altitude in only 28 miles and is the highest
paved road in the United States. Due to time constraints we did
not get a chance to drive to the summit.... maybe next time.
